| Description of the problem | After filling up the tank, there would be very noticeable gas vapors especially in enclosed spaces like the garage. At half a tank, the gas smell goes away. I decided to take it to the mercedes dealer. The advisor asked me to sit down before he delivered the bad news. The gas tank has warped! This is a garage kept luxury car with only 42,000 miles. How can its gas tank warp i asked him and he said it has already happened to 8 other cars in the dealership. There was nothing i could do to prevent it from happening. Mercedes will not help any and it will cost $2,550 to change the tank to solve the problem. He said he can bring it down to $2,300 after discounts. I hope mercedes benz steps up to the plate to address this critical issue. |
